Waze is set to transform the daily driving experience with AI

The Waze application is embracing artificial intelligence. In 2025, Google’s software will continue to innovate, defying predictions that it would fade in favor of Maps. Internet users' attachment to the platform, launched in 2009, has proven strong over the past 15 years, with crowdsourcing allowing a community to report road incidents and enhance the service. By 2025, users will benefit from AI features to further improve their experience.

This year, Waze is set to implement Conversational Reporting into its application. Instead of manually reporting incidents on their smartphone, which can distract drivers, users will soon be able to report road accidents using natural language. They will simply speak to Waze to indicate an accident or a police checkpoint, and the app will handle the rest.

This new feature is powered by Google’s Gemini AI, which will interpret spoken messages and convert them into direct commands for the app, creating real-time reports on the map. Beyond reporting, the AI will engage in direct conversations with users for more details about incidents, helping to inform other drivers about potential hazards. Additionally, Waze will introduce safety features related to school zones, alerting drivers to slow down in sensitive areas during school hours and in pedestrian-heavy zones.
