Two years after the launch of ChatGPT, the concept of artificial intelligence is on everyone's lips. On November 30, 2022, the public discovered this generative conversational tool capable of succeeding in the American medical exam, or generating poems. While some express concerns about this technology, the enthusiasm is immediate, with ChatGPT reaching one million users in just five days and soaring to 100 million in two months. As of now, OpenAI's tool boasts over 200 million active users weekly, notably among Gen Z, those born after 1995.
According to an April 2024 Ifop-Talan survey, over 70% of 18-24 year-olds use generative AI, compared to just 22% among those over 35. Users like Eric, a 19-year-old language student, and George, a production assistant, share their positive experiences, utilizing ChatGPT for everything from revising to writing presentations, demonstrating its significant impact on their academic and professional lives.
However, there are concerns about privacy and data security. Users like Marc-Adrien and Louison are cautious, ensuring they do not share confidential information with ChatGPT. Despite these concerns, the tool is often compared to a "second brain," as it simplifies tasks and enhances productivity in various fields. While some users still turn to traditional search engines like Google for factual information, many appreciate ChatGPT's ability to provide detailed responses in a conversational format, saving time and effort.
