Will the next Apple Watch have a camera?

After a rather quiet anniversary year in 2024, Apple is reportedly planning a major update for its smartwatch, the Apple Watch. According to Bloomberg, the company is set to roll out several significant innovations in the next two years.

One of the most concrete updates concerns Apple Intelligence. The generative AI tools already available on Mac, iPhone, and iPad are expected to arrive, at least partially, on the watch. To achieve this, Apple would equip the next version of the Apple Watch with a camera, enabling it to identify the external world in order to “provide relevant information.”

On the iPhone, this functionality is already available, allowing users to take a photo of an item, such as a calendar, to automatically add it to the app. The Apple Watch will not be alone in the connected device segment, as even AirPods could receive updates by 2027, according to the U.S. economic media. Additionally, Apple is expected to incorporate other models based on its existing partnership with OpenAI and ChatGPT, as the company acknowledges it has a significant delay in this area.
