BYD's new car costs half the price of a Tesla Model 3

In light of the challenges faced by its American competitor Tesla, BYD is soaring in the electric vehicle market. The Chinese manufacturer, a global leader in electric vehicles, has recently unveiled a new car in China. The Qin L EV is already generating significant interest and is likely to make headlines in the coming months.

The new Qin L electric car is positioned as a more affordable alternative to the Tesla Model 3, featuring a modern and conventional design. With generous dimensions of 4.72 meters long, 1.88 meters wide, and 1.50 meters high, it closely resembles the Model 3. The major advantage of the BYD Qin L is its extremely competitive pricing, available in China in three versions at prices ranging from 119,800 yuan (approximately $16k USD) to 139,800 yuan (approximately $19k USD).

In terms of performance, the Qin L EV utilizes BYD's e-Platform 3.0 EVO and offers two versions with power outputs of 148 and 215 horsepower. While the car boasts a maximum range of 545 km based on the Chinese CLTC cycle, this significant price difference could disrupt the market, starting in China and potentially extending to the international stage. However, if the model were to be sold in Europe, its price would likely increase due to tariffs.
