The United States imposes new restrictions on Chinese Tech

Joe Biden is set to leave the White House in less than two months, but before his departure, he is implementing a final wave of restrictions against China's tech sector.

The increasing restrictions imposed by Washington on China's technology sector have become a recurring theme over the past few years, exemplified by this recent decision from the Biden administration, even as his term nears its end.

The latest round of restrictions focuses partially on the artificial intelligence sector, prohibiting exports of high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chips, which are vital for training and operating generative AI models. Additionally, over twenty types of equipment used for semiconductor manufacturing and three software programs are included in the export bans, affecting 140 Chinese companies accused of working directly with Beijing.
