The upcoming mixed reality glasses from Samsung are on the horizon, with a potential glimpse of their design expected soon.
Following Apple's launch of the Vision Pro headset, the tech industry has been keenly watching Samsung's response. For the past few months, details have been emerging about Samsung's plan to introduce augmented reality glasses, currently under development, which could soon be showcased.
According to Yonhap News, Samsung is set to reveal the prototype of its first mixed reality glasses at the Unpacked conference in January 2025, where it traditionally unveils new flagship smartphones. The finished product is anticipated to hit the market in the third quarter of 2025, boasting features like a lightweight design of just 50 grams, a Qualcomm AR 1 chip, a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 155 mAh battery similar to that used in Meta and Ray-Ban's recent AR glasses. However, the virtual and augmented reality market remains limited and dependent on pricing, as seen with the Vision Pro priced at $3,500 in the U.S., which limits accessibility for many consumers.
