London authorities have partnered with Trojan Energy to deploy hundreds of nearly invisible electric vehicle charging points. This innovative solution integrates charging points seamlessly into sidewalks, minimizing street clutter when not in use.
Founded in 2016 and based in Scotland, Trojan Energy focuses on solutions that promote the transition to renewable energy in urban areas. The Camden council aims to install over 570 level 2 charging points on sidewalks by 2026, starting with 70 devices to be implemented this July.
The charging points will be clustered throughout Camden to enhance their availability for drivers, who can easily connect their vehicles using personal adapters linked to underground cables. This initiative also supports local carpooling programs, encouraging walking, cycling, or public transport usage, ultimately aiming to improve air quality and reduce emissions in the borough.
