Unlike "kids" phones that are too limited, the Fusion X1 resembles a standard Android model. However, not everything is accessible by default: social media and web browsing are blocked until parents enable them. With the Xplora app, parents can manage various settings remotely: allow certain apps, set screen time limits, track the phone's location, and check its battery level. There’s also a "School" mode that minimizes distractions during classes, ensuring teens focus on their lessons instead of scrolling through their phones.
Adam Ferguson, product marketing manager at HMD, stated, "We wanted a phone that teens would be willing to use while reassuring their parents. If young people need restrictions, there must be a balance."
The Fusion X1 is not just a manageable phone; it's also a high-performance smartphone. It features a 6.56-inch HD+ display (90 Hz), a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor, up to 8 GB of RAM, and 256 GB of expandable storage. For photography, it boasts a 108 MP main sensor and a 50 MP selfie camera, all powered by a 5,000 mAh battery with 33W fast charging to last throughout the day.
