A historic race is set to take place on April 13 in Beijing, featuring not only humans but also humanoid robots, as reported by Business Insider.
The semi-marathon is organized by the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone. "We hope this event will not only showcase the achievements of the humanoid robotics industry but also stimulate discussions and deepen public understanding of robots' capabilities, which will help accelerate the industry's development," said Deputy Director Li Quan.
Teams including companies, research institutions, robotics clubs, and universities can register their robots, which must meet specific criteria. Robots can be either remote-controlled or fully autonomous, but those using wheels are not permitted. Teams may replace their robot’s batteries during the race, incurring a 10-minute penalty each time.
