Apple introduces lossless audio and low-latency audio for AirPods Max

Apple announced on Monday that it will bring lossless audio and ultra-low latency audio to AirPods Max headphones when used with the included USB-C cable. This update will enable 24-bit, 48 kHz lossless audio, preserving the quality of the original recordings.

With this new feature, users can enjoy over 100 million songs in lossless audio through Apple Music. The ultra-low latency audio will also enhance music production, allowing musicians to create and mix music without compromising audio quality.

The update, available in April as a free firmware update with iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4, and macOS Sequoia 15.4, is exclusive to AirPods Max with USB-C, leaving out the Lightning version.
