After making strides in auditory health with the Airpods Pro 2, Apple is not stopping there. According to Bloomberg, the American company is working on several functions to further transform its earbuds into health devices, including temperature detection and heart rate monitoring.
Bloomberg also mentions a technology capable of tracking multiple physiological measures, although details remain scarce. This isn't the first time the American media has hinted at health functions coming to the Airpods. In July 2023, it reported that Apple was working on integrating sensors into its earbuds for more reliable temperature detection than the Apple Watch.
Currently, the company is looking to enhance the accuracy of heart rate measurements with its Airpods Pro, as tests showed these were more precise on the Apple Watch than on the earbuds, although the latter were not far behind. This feature could be included in the next generation of Airpods Pro. Furthermore, Bloomberg states that Apple aims to equip its Airpods with cameras for AI services, but this project is not expected to materialize for several years.
