Ubisoft: release of "Assassin's Creed Shadows" delayed again

The release of Assassin's Creed Shadows has been postponed once more. Initially set for February 14, the Ubisoft video game will now launch on March 20, according to a statement from the French publisher on Thursday, January 9. They have decided to give an additional month for the game's development.

Ubisoft believes this delay is essential for "the most ambitious installment of the Assassin's Creed franchise." "This will allow us to deliver the full potential of the game and end the year on a strong note," said co-founder and CEO Yves Guillemot.

While Assassin's Creed Shadows is highly anticipated, it has sparked controversy since its announcement. The game features a black character as a samurai set in feudal Japan, leading to accusations of "insulting Japanese culture," accompanied by a petition citing "serious historical inaccuracies and a lack of cultural respect." Although the character did exist, some players feel the portrayal doesn’t align with reality, and discussions on forums like 4Chan have criticized Ubisoft for "wokeness." The publisher decided to delay the game from November to February for refinement but appears to need more time.
