Ubisoft announces new studio closures and layoffs

Ubisoft is facing a crisis. As the release of Assassin's Creed Shadows is now expected on March 20, the publisher is also grappling with a severely deteriorated financial situation in recent months.

Following the closures of Ubisoft San Francisco and Osaka, resulting in the layoffs of over 270 people, the French company will shut down Leamington Studio in England and will part ways with nearly 200 additional employees across its studios in Düsseldorf, Stockholm, and Reflections. This news was confirmed in a statement sent to Eurogamer.

These four studios had small teams compared to those in Paris or Montreal, but they allowed Ubisoft to expand projects by collaborating across ten studios, each sharing tasks. Although Reflections has developed some notable games in recent years, including Grow Up, the focus has shifted from natural staff reductions to outright closures and layoffs.
