Google's AI division, Deepmind, has unveiled Genie 2, a new model capable of creating interactive 3D worlds with just a few clicks. This could be the future of gaming. Over the past few years, advancements in generative AI have amazed internet users while raising numerous questions.
Genie 2 serves as a foundation for creating playable 3D environments that users can navigate using a mouse and keyboard. Google states, "Our research paves the way for new creative workflows for prototyping interactive experiences." Currently, Genie 2 can generate coherent worlds for up to a minute, although most examples last only 10 to 20 seconds.
The model intelligently responds to keyboard inputs, allowing for character movement and various perspectives like first-person and third-person views. It also simulates realistic interactions with objects, including water and smoke effects. With Genie 2, concepts can quickly turn into fully interactive environments, accelerating the creative process in game development.
