In March 2015, Microsoft and Moon Studios teamed up to release Ori And The Blind Forest, a new metroidvania license that immediately captured the interest of Xbox players. Five years later, the sequel, Ori And The Will Of The Wisps, which launched in March 2020, achieved even greater success and attracted more players. Following a port to Switch and PC, it has now been confirmed that the franchise has sold over 15 million copies.
Thomas Mahler, the CEO of Moon Studios, announced on Twitter that the Ori franchise has reached the milestone of 15 million copies sold. He expressed gratitude to fans, highlighting the success of the series in a genre that was once considered dying.
Despite the impressive sales, there are questions about when Ori 3 will be announced. Unfortunately, it won't be soon, as Mahler previously stated that the studio's resources are currently focused on their new game, No Rest for the Wicked, which is in early access. According to Mahler, this project will occupy the studio for the next 5 to 10 years, delaying any potential announcement for Ori 3.
