Six months after its launch, Ubisoft will shut down its game "XDefiant"

The French video game giant Ubisoft announced on Wednesday the closure of the servers for its online game XDefiant in June, just six months after its launch, marking another setback for the company.

"As a result, new downloads, player registrations, and purchases will no longer be available," it stated. "The servers will remain active and the game will be fully playable until June 3, 2025," it specified.

Launched in May, this "free-to-play" online shooting game never truly managed to capture an audience. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot had indicated in late September that the game also did not meet the company's "expectations." Executive producer Mark Rubin noted that many free games take time to find their place and become profitable, but unfortunately, the journey had become too burdensome to continue.
