VIDEO - PS5: A surprise update brings back the original PlayStation startup screen

On December 3, 2024, PlayStation celebrates its 30th anniversary. The console was launched in Japan on December 3, 1994, and has sold over 100 million units since then, featuring legendary titles like Gran Turismo, Crash Bandicoot, and Final Fantasy.

To please nostalgic fans who may not have been able to buy a collector's console, Sony has released an update for the PlayStation 5. This update activates a special 30th anniversary theme that changes the console's startup screen.

When you restart the console, you will see the original PlayStation startup screen instead of the PS5's. This includes the original logo and name of the video game division, Sony Computer Entertainment (now Sony Interactive Entertainment), followed by the 30th-anniversary logo. Additionally, when you completely shut down the console, a video plays thanking players "for being part of this adventure." The console's interface has also received a specific skin. Meanwhile, PlayStation has released a video paying tribute to thirty years of gaming.
