Minecraft 2 announced?

Nearly 14 years after the release of Minecraft, the legendary building game that remains the best-selling video game in history with 300 million copies sold, may finally have a sequel. This announcement was made in a lengthy post on X (formerly Twitter) by Notch, the creator of the franchise, who stated that he is considering a spiritual sequel to Minecraft. However, it’s important to note that Notch no longer holds the rights to the license.

"I basically announced Minecraft 2"

Minecraft has been available for almost 14 years and has surpassed 300 million copies across 18 platforms, outpacing Grand Theft Auto V, which has sold 210 million copies. Both games share a long-lasting presence in the gaming industry, with anticipation building for GTA 6, expected to be released soon, while no sequel to Minecraft has been announced since the original game launched in November 2011 until now.

In his post, Notch expressed, "I basically announced Minecraft 2." He aims to create a spiritual successor and is committed to respecting the work of Mojang. Details about the development process, including whether he will work alone or assemble a team, remain unclear. Notch's controversial past in the gaming industry, including his social media comments, has led to a mixed reputation.
