Ubisoft's latest game, Assassin's Creed Shadows, seems to be a success and is seen as a light at the end of a long tunnel for the company, which has struggled for three years. Just hours after its launch on PC, Xbox Series, and PlayStation 5, the game surpassed one million players - although this does not equate to a million sales.
While Ubisoft has not provided details on platform distribution or the percentage of players accessing the game through its subscription service, data from SteamDB indicates that the peak player count reached 41,400 on Steam (PC) on March 20.
Assassin's Creed Shadows is also available on the Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Connect. This positive start could signal a recovery for the publisher, which has faced declining sales over its recent releases, including the failures of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown and Star Wars Outlaws in 2024. The future of Ubisoft hinges on this new episode of its flagship saga.
