Back to the Future is a cult saga from the 80s that has remained a significant part of pop culture, captivating thousands of fans worldwide over the years. It is one of the few legendary franchises that has not yet been marred by sequels, reboots, or failed adaptations. Even in the realm of video games, there have been very few adaptations and ports.
The last adaptation was the Telltale Games series released in 2010, which was a decent episodic game in five parts. Recently, it has been confirmed that a new video game project centered on this iconic saga is indeed in development.
Bob Gale, the co-creator of Back to the Future, revealed in an interview with cleveland.com that he has long wanted to create a new video game based on the series. While details remain under wraps, he expressed hope that it will come to fruition, especially with the 40th anniversary of the original film approaching in 2025, alongside planned events and a documentary about the musical's creation currently in post-production.
