"We Need More Time": Apple Delays New AI-Powered Siri

One of the standout features anticipated at the WWDC 2024 conference, the new Siri, initially set for release in April, will not arrive until the end of 2025. This information was revealed by Apple spokesperson Jacqueline Roy to Daring Fireball.

For Apple, this represents an admission of failure in its artificial intelligence strategy. Facing competition from Google, OpenAI, and Samsung, the company struggles to offer distinctive AI features; even essential functionalities are being postponed.

In terms of Siri, while the voice assistant has been enhanced with Apple Intelligence integrating ChatGPT and enabling text requests significant shortcomings remain. One such limitation is the inability to consider context when users make requests by scanning their screens or accessing data from applications. This statement follows a Bloomberg report indicating that Craig Federighi and other Apple executives have expressed "serious concerns" about features not functioning as originally promised. According to the American media, Apple may even need to abandon some features entirely or start from scratch.
