Mark Zuckerberg celebrates the growing success of Threads, a social network inspired by the now-defunct Twitter, developed by Meta, the company behind Facebook and Instagram. In recent months, various microblogging platforms have emerged, including Mastodon, a free and open-source alternative, and Bluesky, founded by Twitter's former CEO.
Since Elon Musk took over Twitter more than a year ago, many users have chosen to leave what has become X.com. Recently, there's been another wave of departures following Donald Trump's re-election. While many are migrating to Bluesky, Threads has also benefitted from the "Musk effect." Zuckerberg recently confirmed that Threads boasts 100 million daily active users and 300 million monthly users.
Meta has been pleased to highlight the growth of Threads, which currently outnumbers Bluesky's 25 million users. This dominance is further supported by its close ties with Instagram. Users leaving X.com often cite concerns about the unchecked spread of misinformation, conspiracy theories, and hate speech, along with Musk's relationship with Trump.
