Squid Game: season 3 is already in the works

On Thursday, December 26, the most-watched series in Netflix history made its return. Taking advantage of the Christmas holidays to captivate many users' living rooms, Squid Game released its second batch of episodes. The platform offered 7 new chapters, two fewer than in 2021, with the shorter duration mainly reflecting the future plans for the characters and the creation by Hwang Dong-hyuk. A third season is confirmed, promising to wrap up the story of Jung-jae Lee's character and provide answers regarding the organizers of the sadistic games.

Netflix has assured fans that they won't have to wait long, with the third season set for release in 2025. The streaming giant suggests that the end of the year will be the prime time for the premiere. On its TUDUM blog, Netflix shared a statement from the creator: "I am more than happy to write this letter to announce the news of season 3, the final season. The fierce conflict between the two worlds (Gi-hun and Front-Man) will continue in the season finale, which will be presented next year."

As viewers wrap up the latest batch of episodes, the creator delves into the mysterious Front-Man's past and the motivations that led him to participate in the games years ago. The initial episodes of season 2 reveal his struggles with creditors and the desperate situation concerning his ill wife. These insights aim to deepen the narrative and explore how the series will reinvent its core concept when it returns.
