Perplexity is among the companies interested in purchasing TikTok, and its project is notable for its transparency! In January, Donald Trump granted a reprieve to TikTok to enable it to receive acquisition offers that would allow the app to continue operating in the United States.
Currently, according to the U.S. President, there are four serious offers in contention. Although he did not disclose the names of the entities involved, some companies, including the AI giant Perplexity, have publicly expressed their desire to acquire the platform.
Perplexity has outlined its acquisition plan in a recent blog post, stating that it is uniquely positioned to rebuild TikTok's algorithm without creating a monopoly. The algorithm would be developed in American data centers with U.S. control, and Perplexity aims to enhance TikTok by integrating previously developed AI features, such as search capabilities and automatic translation functions. Furthermore, the new algorithm will be made open source to ensure transparency.
