Meta donates $1 million to Trump's inaugural fund

After threats and disputes, there is now a sense of reconciliation. According to the Wall Street Journal, Meta (which includes Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp), owned by Mark Zuckerberg, has donated one million dollars to Donald Trump's inauguration fund. This donation, confirmed by the company, will cover all expenses related to Trump's presidential inauguration.

Interestingly, neither Mark Zuckerberg nor Meta made donations to Trump's inauguration fund in 2017 or to President Biden's fund in 2021, as per public records reviewed by the newspaper. This donation is part of Zuckerberg's efforts to mend relations with the future president to better protect his business interests.

Since Trump's banning from Facebook following the Capitol attack in 2021, their relationship had soured. Trump had previously stated, "The next time I’m in the White House, there will be no dinners, at his request, with Mark Zuckerberg and his wife. It will only be business!" Despite the tensions, Meta's CEO has been working to ease the situation and strengthen ties, leading to a meeting between the two at Mar-a-Lago where Zuckerberg expressed his desire to support a national renewal under Trump's leadership.
