A new clash between tech billionaires has emerged. Reid Hoffman, co-founder of LinkedIn, revisited his conflict with Elon Musk this Thursday, March 13. In recent days, the two have exchanged messages on X, formerly known as Twitter.
While Reid Hoffman, a progressive and close ally of the Democrats, claims to harbor no resentment towards the Tesla owner, Musk appears to be bitter over OpenAI's success after his departure. Elon Musk co-founded OpenAI with Sam Altman, the creator of ChatGPT, and Hoffman supported the startup early on. Musk left the AI company's board in 2018.
According to Hoffman, AI should be developed by those willing to "consult with others," which he believes Musk does not do. Tensions escalated when Musk accused Hoffman of funding protests against Tesla, which Hoffman quickly denied, stating, "I have never funded anyone for Tesla protests." The feud continued with Hoffman humorously responding to Musk's request to describe his "favorite vacation island" by sharing a graph of Tesla's declining stock price.
