The Galaxy S25 range may not be groundbreaking, but the new model is set to shake up the landscape. Officially announced by Samsung earlier this year, the Galaxy S25 Edge is already being touted as one of the smartphones of the year and a symbol of the trend towards slim designs among manufacturers. Samsung is moving forward with this new model, which is expected to hit the market very soon. Meanwhile, Apple is preparing to launch the iPhone 17 Air, with both models aiming for a particularly slim profile and Chinese competition lurking in the background.
Featured at MWC 2025 in Barcelona, the Galaxy S25 Edge was discussed by Annika Bizon, marketing director of Samsung UK, in an interview with TechRadar. “I can’t say too much, but I can confirm that [the Edge] focuses on a sleek design... it’s absolutely incredible,” she explained. Reports suggest the device will be only 5.84 mm thick and weigh 162 grams, similar to the standard Galaxy S25, which is thicker at 7.2 mm.
Samsung is making significant efforts towards slimness without compromising durability. Annika Bizon emphasized the importance of durability in the design of the Galaxy S25 Edge, stating, “I know durability isn't exciting, but it's really important.” To avoid issues that have plagued competitors in the past, Samsung is using ceramic materials to enhance resistance. The Galaxy S25 Edge is expected to feature a 6.7-inch display and a powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, along with a 200-megapixel main sensor and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera, priced similarly to the Galaxy S25+, around $1,099 to $1,149. The official announcement from Samsung is anticipated around April 16, 2025.
