Apple: why this new iPhone update is important

A vulnerability affecting several Apple devices has been addressed. On Tuesday, March 11, the American giant released updates for its iPhone, iPad, Macbook, Vision Pro, and the Safari browser.

Named iOS 18.3.2 for the iPhone, it "brings important fixes and security improvements and resolves an issue that may prevent the playback of certain streaming content," Apple states. The company further details this update on its dedicated security updates support page, explaining that it permanently closes a vulnerability that could allow a hacker to extract malicious content from the "sandbox."

This "sandbox" is a secure area that protects user data from unauthorized access by applications. Apple places all third-party apps in this sandbox to restrict their access to user data and system resources. However, the vulnerability allowed hackers to bypass these protections and access user information. "This is an additional fix for an attack that was blocked in iOS 17.2," Apple noted, emphasizing the importance of updating your iPhone and other devices.
