Apple promises that Siri has never been used for marketing purposes

In response to accusations of espionage for marketing purposes, Apple is making its stance clear: data from its voice assistant has never been sold to advertisers, the company states.

Recently, Apple agreed to settle a class-action lawsuit for $95 million, stemming from a 2019 case that revealed that voice commands and conversations with Siri were listened to by agents to improve the service. The company acknowledged that less than 1% of daily Siri activations were used for quality control.

Amid renewed rumors that Siri is constantly listening to users for advertising targeting, Apple expressed frustration over these claims. "Siri was designed from the outset to protect user privacy. Siri data has never been used to create marketing profiles or sold to anyone for any reason," the company stated. Apple has also detailed security measures ensuring interactions are tied to a random identifier, preventing any connection to a specific user.
