OpenAI announces enhancements to its AI voice assistant for better conversations

OpenAI introduced updates on Monday to its Advanced Voice Mode, enhancing its AI voice feature for real-time interactions in ChatGPT, making the AI assistant more relatable and decreasing interruptions during conversations.

Manuka Stratta, a researcher at OpenAI, shared the updates in a video on the company’s official social media platforms.

With the new version of Advanced Voice Mode, free users can now pause without interruption, while paying subscribers such as those on Plus, Teams, Edu, Business, and Pro tiers will experience fewer interruptions and enhanced personality in their interactions. The improvements are crucial as AI voice assistants often disrupt users during pauses for thought. Additionally, an OpenAI representative highlighted that the upgraded assistant for paying users provides “more direct, engaging, concise, specific, and creative” responses.
