Katy Perry to travel to space with Blue Origin

The company has confirmed the presence of six female passengers on this NS-31 mission, with the exact date yet to be announced but scheduled for this spring. Alongside Katy Perry, there will be Lauren Sanchez, partner of Jeff Bezos and organizer of this expedition, CBS presenter Gayle King, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, film producer Kerianne Flynn, and engineer Aisha Bowe, a former NASA scientist.

For Blue Origin, this mission is a pivotal moment. “I am honored to lead a team of women explorers on an adventure that will change their view of Earth,” Lauren Sanchez stated in a press release. Katy Perry expressed her excitement: “If someone had told me as a child that I would be part of the first all-female space crew, I would have believed it. Nothing was beyond my imagination.”

The New Shepard flight will last about 11 minutes, reaching an altitude of 105 km, crossing the Kármán line, considered the boundary of space. Fully autonomous, the rocket requires no pilot and has already carried 52 passengers since its inception.
